Drinking and Drugs

When you are prohibited from the above things (Drinking and taking drugs unless prescribed) it is less likely for these causes of death. This religion is a beautiful religion. Around 3 million people die in road accidents and 50 million are seriously injured and are life changing, Every Year. If we all convert and make ourselves pure we will go down hill to on road deaths. In a recent lecture I have learnt about How becoming a muslim can change lives. It's so simple - La illaha illallah (la-Ill-la-ha-ill-lal-lah)

At first, it was forbidden for Muslims to attend to prayers while intoxicated (4:43). Then a later verse was revealed which said that alcohol contains some good and some evil, but the evil is greater than the good (2:219). This was the next step in turning people away from consumption of it. Finally, "intoxicants and games of chance" were called "abominations of Satan's handiwork," intended to turn people away from God and forget about prayer, and Muslims were ordered to abstain (5:90-91).

Muslims don't drink alcohol, with the exception of those who are of the Hanafi school of thought in Sunni Islam, and they abstain from wine but drink vodka and non-grape-based alcoholic drinks. And a bad Muslim..hmm...that's all relative and depends on what each Muslim thinks of himself or herself.

Verses that refer to consuming alcohol are:
4:43
2:219
5:90-91
